Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I use the app?

Just like in our home neighborhood, we all share the responsibility to contribute to a “workplace neighborhood” that is Safe, Secure and Trustworthy. The app provides every member of your staff the opportunity to share concerns related to these areas.

What the app should not be used for?

General complaints, false accusations or spreading rumors you know are false. Concerns shared via the app are received by your organization’s management, whose job it is to thoughtfully review each submission. False or misleading submissions are considered misuse of the platform and subject to further action.

Does this take the place of talking to management?

No, as long as you feel comfortable and are able to do so, speaking directly with those responsible for addressing your concern should be your first step. Follow current company policy in this regard.

How do I download the app?

Please see download instructions in the “How to Download and Install” section of the FAQ page for more information. A direct link to the desktop version is also available.

How does the app affect my data plan?

You may incur a fee related to the “text to download” process for downloading the app. You can avoid this by typing in the unique web address for your company’s version of the app directly into the search bar of your browser. While we’ve designed the app to uses only the minimum information required when you share a concern, using the app requires an active internet connection. The amount of data sent is typically very small, about the same as an average web page. If you are still concerned about your data usage, only use the app when connected to WiFi.

How much storage space does the app take up on my phone?

Very little, it’s much less than an app that your download from an app store.

I don’t have access to a smartphone or tablet. Can I use the app on my desktop or laptop?

Yes. We have a version of the app that is designed use on your laptop or desktop computer. See the link on this this page to your company’s version.

Can I report an emergency with the app?

No, the app is for sharing concerns related to non-emergency issues only.

Can I submit an anonymous concern?

If you choose to submit an an anonymous concern we do not provide your employer information that could identify the device that was used to provide the report. This platform is subject to the laws of the State of Michigan and the Unites States of America and must comply with all relevant laws and regulations. This means that we may be required to comply with legal requests for information. See our Privacy Policy and User Agreement for more complete information on this topic.

How do I submit an anonymous concern?

Once you’re done providing details, press the “Done” button on the upper-right of the screen.. On the next screen, you’ll see the text “I want to submit anonymously” and a slider button. Slide it so it says “Yes” - now you’re now submitting an anonymous concern™.

What category of concern should I choose?

Choose the category that you think best fits the issue (Safety, Security or Ethics). If you are still unsure or if the issue clearly does not fit one of those areas, please choose “Other.”

Do I have to answer all the questions the app asks me?

Please complete as many questions as possible. The more information you provide the more likely it is that your concern will be addressed promptly and completely.

Can I submit a picture with my concern?

Yes. Adding a photo is easy. While responding to the “What Happened” question, click the “Add Photos.” Then just select a photo from your photo library or take a new picture.

How/when should I check back for follow up questions from my company?

Very few concerns will result in follow up questions being asked via the app. Still, you may want to check for additional questions by tapping the “Previous Concern” button on the main screen. Follow-up isn’t always needed though, so don’t be disappointed if there is not a question waiting for you.

Can I update a concern or answer a follow up question while staying anonymous?

Yes. Updating a concern or answering a question via the app uses the same process as submitting the original concern.

How do I provide an update to an existing report?

We make providing follow-up information easy, even when you send the first concern anonymously. Open the app and click on the “Update Concern” button on the bottom-left of the screen. On the next screen, select or enter the “concern ID” number you received when you sent your previous concern and tap the “Update This Concern” button. You can now enter additional information while remaining anonymous.

Will I know when and how my company takes action on my concern?

No. For privacy and security reasons there is no notification sent when an action is taken based on your concern.

I made a mistake and want to restart my report. How do I do that?

Use the round “X” button in the lower right portion of your screen to start over.

Can I see the details of a report I sent previously?

No. We do this to protect your privacy and make sure no one else can see what you previously shared. You can always add extra content to your report using the “Update Concern” feature.

Is anything stored/what is stored on phone?

The only thing stored on your phone is the concern ID number.

How is my submission of a concern protected?

the app uses an encrypted web portal to protect your submission, beginning at the moment you enter your first answer. You cannot access or download the information that was previously shared.

How do I delete a concern ID that is stored on my device?

You can do this by clearing the device’s browser cache.

Can I use voice to text or just leave a voice message?

Yes, you can use the “voice to text” feature on your device. You can also leave an audio message on the “What Happened” page by using the “Add Audio” button.

Can I use the app outside of the United States?

At this time the app is designed for use only in the United States. Please see the Privacy and User agreements for more information on this topic.

Does the app work offline or in Airplane mode?

At this time the app currently requires an active cellular data or WiFi connection. It does not support offline or Airplane mode use.

I opened the app and all I saw was a white screen. What happened?

If this happens simply close the app and go back to your phone’s home screen. Check that you have an active data connection (you should see a 3G or 4G and at least 1 signal bar in the notification area), then try clicking on the app icon again. If the problem persists, please let our tech team know via either via chat or “Contact Us” portal.
